Fabric Hair Bow Tutorial
Go ahead and start with a practice fabric to ensure you cut your pieces to your desired size when you start with your final project. Some people like smaller hair bows, others like their hair bows larger, it’s entirely up to you.
1. Cut one piece of fabric.
2. Cut a second piece of fabric just slightly larger than your first piece.
3. With the same fabric you cut first cut a 1.5″ by 4″ piece
4. Iron the long edges of your fabric over 1/4″ over (all 3 pieces)
5. Take your biggest piece of fabric and turn face down, bring each sides in with one side slightly over the other
6. Repeat with your smaller piece of fabric
8. With the folds face down, set your smaller fabric piece on top of the larger piece.
9. Thread your needle. Start at the bottom and sew a basic stitch through both pieces of fabric down the center.
10. Pull your string so that the fabric scrunches and wrap your thread around about 5 times and knot your thread to tie it off. Remove any excess strings that might be hanging out of your knot with scissors before moving on to the next step.
11. Hot glue your little strip of fabric onto the center of your bow.
12. Turn your bow face down and hot glue your lined alligator clip on the backside of your bow. At this point you might want to remove some of the extra fabric from the strip if it seems like there might be too much excess when it’s wrapped around. You’ll find the method that works best for you.
13. Open your clip and hot glue each end under your alligator clip. (We used a lined alligator clip for our hair bow but you don’t have to.)
14. Your bow is now ready to wear!
