Gone are the days of cheesy kids crafts. How many bracelets does one need?? We have hit the big leagues folks. The kids aren’t impressed with finger painting, or weaving pot holders. But this…..this had their attention. HELLO, Homemade Bubble Wands!

Last year we made The Best Homemade Bubble Solution Ever. Seriously it rocks! If you haven’t tried it, get with it. Summer is a great time to turn the kids loose outside with bubbles and the sprinkler. We had some plain ole’ plastic bubble wands which are great if you want to buy new ones constantly. The dog was getting ahold of them, they were cracking, etc.

You will need

I dug around in my craft box and found floral wire and beads. That is all you need. And some really sharp scissors or wire cutters to cut the floral wire. It really isn’t that thick, so my scissors did the trick.

How to

Cut a piece of wire about 18 inches long. You are going to gently fold it in half. Don’t pinch the ends for a sharp fold just kinda eyeball it like pictured above.

You are then going to form a circle at the top and twist the wire to secure it. My kids said it looked like a stick person. I kinda had to agree.

Now let your creative juices flow. add those beads making sure to thread both pieces of wire into the holes. This is pretty easy when it comes to those plastic kids beads. They have plenty of room for the wire. Once you are done adding beads to the handle separate the two wires like the picture above.

I cut the wires off so I had about 2 -3 inches after the last bead. Then I bent each wire and fed it back up the handle starting with the second to last bead. This locks everybody in place. Once you have both the wires threaded back up the handle give it a twist or two so that they aren’t going anywhere.

Here are 2 of our completed wands. We added names to them. This avoids the whole “He took mine!” incident that is sure to come later.

This would also make an amazing party project and favor for birthdays and more. It takes minimal supplies, time, and parental supervision. When they are done they have something awesome to take home!
