Paper bag puppets are not a new thing, kids have been enjoying them for years. But guess what? They are still a ton of fun and if you haven’t tried making them lately with your kids, why don’t you pull out some supplies, gather round the table and create some?
The paper bag puppets we created were a little brown pup, a sweet white kitty and a cute little hamster, but you can use your imagination to put together just about any creature you want!
We made these puppets with supplies we had around the house but it’s good to have a stash of fun, random things so you can make these any time. Here are some supplies you can make sure you have on hand.

Instructions:
For these paper bag puppets, anything goes! Older kids can certainly cut out shapes and come up with ideas. Younger kids who could use a little help with the fine motor portion of this craft can still enjoy putting it together. Just pre-cut some general shapes and let your kids place and glue them. It doesn’t matter it the eye is a little south of the nose as long as they have fun!
Most of the shapes we used were half circles, or ovals with one end cut off, glued on some additional things like whiskers on the cat and drew in extra details with markers.
What animal creations can you think of that would make good paper bag puppets? This is a great activity for you and your kids, for classrooms and even for play dates! Kids have a lot of fun making them and then creating a puppet show afterwards.
The only rules? Be creative and have fun!
