I love crafting, but even more than that, I love crafting with friends! So when a friend posts a message with a link to a project and says they want to make it, and who wants to join them, I’m always in! This is a perfect Craft Club Idea!
I just love how they came out! I plan on dropping one off to people I visit at church – hope they like them as much as I do! (and PS, sneak peek of the amazing live-edge bench that Trevor made a couple weeks ago, love it too!)
We had two options at our little craft get-together, fall leaves or back-to-school apples, and we used the tutorials from Infarrantly Creative (apples) and Create Craft Love (leaves) (and random, Jill of Create Craft Love lives here in Missouri too – small world!)
You’ll need:
—Mason Jars (did you know you can buy them on Amazon – free shipping with prime – score!)
–craft paint or spraypaint
—contact paper or vinyl to make decals
Tutorials:
Anyways, since those two blog have their respective tutorials, you can head over there for how to do the project – I won’t be covering the how-to since it’s their project.
But I do have a few tips for you:
–“Ball” mason jars have a design on the back. You want a blank back, which would be the “Kerr” brand
–you’ll want wide-mouth jars – I about got my hand stuck as I tried to position the candle in mine. I had wide-mouth Ball on hand and regular Kerr on hand – wrong combo! The regular worked, it was just tight to get the candle set up inside.
–the decal seemed to peel off a little better with the spraypaint versus the craft paint
–this is a perfect group craft!! it was so fun, I’m thinking of starting a craft club
Here were the colors I went with, cause I know you’ll ask – Michael’s brand Crimson, Mustard, Spanish Olive, Aqua, Golden Brown – you like how I count turquoise as a fall color?
Grab a group of friends, and start crafting – it’s loads of fun!
I also think these would look amazing with the crackle paint technique – it just uses Elmer’s glue and I posted all about that here: How to Crackle Paint on Jars
